Worker Refuses To Serve Customer At Neasden Tesco

Tesco has been forced into making a public apology after one of its employees refused to serve a customer at the Neasden Lane Tesco Express, according to the Brent and Kilburn Times.

A Muslim worker said to the customer that they can’t serve them the ham & wine in their basket, because they were fasting.

As a result, the customer had no choice but to serve her self, via the self-service checkout.

Enraged, the customer contacted Tesco to make her complaint and they confirmed to her that the worker will face disciplinary action.

  • You can’t escape Ramadan in Brent, it’s everywhere, just take a trip to your local supermarket, there’s signage all around reminding us.

If she lives in Brent, which has many different cultures, this would have you believe that she would handle the situation better and just use the self-service instead?

Why bother complain to the local press about this. First world problems indeed.

  • Would this be a story if the Tesco worker was a vegan and refused to serve the meat in the customers basket?

  • Disgusting. I dearly hope this worker gets the sack. I wouldn’t tolerate this sort of behaviour from one of my employees.

  • What if this happened in a shop that didn’t have self-service checkouts? Then what? Are we supposed to accept being disadvantaged because of someones faith?

This doesn’t sound like good business to me and I would describe this individual as very unprofessional, mixing their personal life with business.

Tesco needs ensure employees who plan to do this, never serve anyone.
