Wembley Market’s Last Day

Wembley market opened today for the last time before it lifts the handbrake and goes into reverse to permanently leave its home of over 40 years, Wembley Stadium’s car park.

Everyone wants to know. . .  where is Wembley Market moving to? Wendyfair Markets are yet to confirm rumours of a relocation to Hanger Lane.

I headed over to experience it for the last time, all I could hear were market traders beckoning “last day, last time!” and in the centre of  all the stalls, smoke emerging from the busy food court. Lot’s of people who knew it was the final day turned up to stroll through the lanes one last time.

It’s truly the end of an era but like a phoenix rising from the ashes, Brent Council chose the final day of Wembley Market to have the opening ceremony for Brent Civic Centre.

See the pictures of the last day below and let London know you were there to see it go, in the comments.

  • Good news! I just checked the Wembley Sunday Market website only to discover that it now has the new location published. Apparently Wembley Market will move down the road from the old site to the “Wembley Stadium Trading Estate” on a road called “Second Way”. You can see the details of the new Wembley Market site for yourself at http://www.wendyfairmarkets.com

I’m so pleased that Wembley Market isn’t closing down permanently. I’m actually pretty surprised they’ve managed to move the market to a location that is so near to the old one.
