Britain’s Ugliest Building Acquired by LaSalle

Is this Britain’s ugliest building? Does this architecture deserve such an abject description? Building Design magazine seems to think so.

I asked this question 2 years ago to the neighbourhood and local opinion was evenly split.

The Victoria Hall block, although lambasted as ugly, at a pretty price of £41.45m, LaSalle Investment Management have added it to their portfolio.

Property Week reports that John Yeend, director at LaSalle Investment Management, said: “UK student housing is structurally under-supplied, particularly in London. The sector is becoming increasingly sought after by both institutional and private investors, with a high income component and ability to drive rents annually delivering attractive real returns.

“The Wembley property represents core London, underpinned by residential, with an attractive yield. The acquisition continues LaSalle’s investment activity in the student sector.”

Victoria Hall is a 20-storey student accommodation block opposite Wembley Park tube.

What do you think?
