E-petition discussion

Due of the huge response around the recent utility bill outcome I have closed comments on Heating and Hot Water Charges and started a new post; which is to discuss the petition and complaints letter.

The most recent comment from a resident is as follows, “I have received an e-petition to sign regarding this issue, but despite asking Forum House neighbours to sign it, the letter only talks about Quadrant Court. Forum House isn’t even mentioned and quite a few of the problems don’t even affect us or even if they do or we have similar issues, the letter is still only focused on QC’s.

But more importantly, the letter doesn’t treat the water&heat billing problem with the necessary depth, which was the point of this signatures collection. It doesn’t say anything about the silly standing charges calculations, the abusive account set-up and annual fees for EnviroEnergy, etc. It pretty much just asks for the whole bill to be waived, and let’s be realistic, it isn’t going to happen (as much as I’d like it).”

  • You are absolutely right!

I think as we were up against time, the letter was rushed and we wanted to get a minimal viable complaint with as much support as possible sent ASAP. If we can get the support of over 100 residents then I think even if our complaint was rushed, the large group of residents sharing the same reaction can not be ignored.

However, I’m sure everyone would welcome the letter being tweaked for the better. If you can volunteer in any way, it will be appreciated.

  • I agree that the complaints letter need to be more focused. I understand that the other issues are important to residents however in this situation I feel strongly that including them dilutes the issue of the extortionate water bill which we are facing.

Alongside this petition I recommend that we also file individual formal complaint as I have done to the following e mail
    CustomerCareLine@familymosaic.co.uk

I think this will help to strengthen our position.

  • The letter that was first sent around Forum House was to get a list of people who were not happy about the heating hot water bills. This was to get a list of people who wanted to sign the petition and take complaint further. I have started calling to collect signatures and hope to get most of them over next couple of days. The letter is originaly focused also on family mosaic residents but I have had replies from genesis also. If anyone has not replied because of any of these reasons someone will be calling for people to sign over next few days.

  • Has anyone received further update from FM following their ‘random’ letter through the letterbox stating their will recalulate the bills and will update us in 10 working days? Their letter was sent approx at the start of June which is well over 10 workings days! I’m concerned, FM will go silent for a while poss another few years then we get even more of bigger bill. As per usual, no one returns calls from FM….
Is they a solicitor in the Forum Hse block that we can consult? I think we should notify the local newspaper and the London Tonight news team of the way we have been treated by FM

  • I received an amended bill some time ago (couldn’t post earlier as comments weren’t working). They have removed those ludicrous account managing fees, which were my main concern.

  • I’m extremely unhappy of the recurring hot water issue in forum house. This time its so bad that almost a whole month now and the hot water is not at all hot, specifically the times when you need it most, morning and evenings.

Also the recent retrospective arrangements to the bills, apparantly there is now “Estate Service Charge” and Service Charge and all the adjustments, i wonder what all these high bills are for, the service they provide, from cleaning to normal running of hot water and heating is extremely poor.

Forum house residents should refuse to pay the hot water bill for this quarter since they are not supplying hot water anyway.

  • Hi Everyone,

I was wondering if the heating and hot water charge issue ever got resolved?

I recently moved into Cedar House (new build opposite Forum House) and just received our first Heat bill which is ridiculous (my standing charge is 50% more than my actual usage charge!)

They made us sign a so called “life time” contract when we moved in so there’s no way of changing our provider (which is EON).

Any advice you could give would be appreciated.

    Thanks!
